Introduction
Information technologies have made a tremendous contribution to the development of bioinformatics research in recent years. But to conquer more complicated tasks such as micro-array data analysis, gene mapping, protein-protein interaction, biochemical pathways, and systems biology, more sophisticated techniques have become necessary. A wide variety of techniques from computational intelligence can be used to interpret information from biological sequences and molecules in a more efficient and effective way.
The Overall Objective of the Book
There exists a need for an edited collection of articles in this cross-disciplinary area. The book aims to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and latest empirical research findings in the area. Readers can benefit from this book in understanding the basics and problems of bioinformatics, as well as the applications of computational intelligence technologies in tackling the problems and the essential research topics in the field.
The Target Audience
The audiences of this book are senior or graduate students major in computer science, computer engineering, biostatistics, or management information system as well as professional instructors and researchers. The book is also written for professionals in bioinformatics who want to understand how computational intelligence techniques can be applied to accelerate bioinformatics research.
Recommended topics include but are not limited to the following:
